A Food Plan for Edinburgh

17th September 2021 by Vivienne Swan

Listening to communities

This workshop is for community and anchor organisations in Edinburgh that want to engage their communities in shaping the City Food Plan.

About this event

Edible Edinburgh (the Edinburgh sustainable food partnership) is developing a City Food Plan and they want to start by listening to the views of communities.

What will this workshop cover?

  • A human rights approach to accessing healthy, sustainable food in a dignified and culturally valued way.
  • Tools for listening to people’s views about the food system and what they would like to see in the City Food Plan.
  • Discussion – Are the tools effective? How can they be improved? What else do we need to do to reach particular groups whose right to food is not being met? For example, people with no recourse to public funds, or older people who aren’t getting the help they need to shop, cook and eat.
  • Going forward – engagement planning and further tips and information.

This workshop will be run by Nourish Scotland.

Edinburgh has become the first European capital to endorse a plant-based diet to tackle the climate emergency.

“We are acknowledging that food systems are a main driver of the climate ..”
