Sugar Smart

Sugar Smart supports local campaigns to take on a cross-sector approach to transform their food environment and raise public awareness of the impacts of consuming too much sugar.

Sugar Smart supports local campaigns to take on a cross-sector approach to transform their food environment and raise public awareness of the impacts of consuming too much sugar. Joining the Sugar Smart campaign gives you access to relevant resources, advice, and inspiring case studies to get you going, as well as help developing your local campaign plan. You can also connect with other local Sugar Smart campaigns and share learning through webinars and online peer support hubs and take part in coordinated actions focusing on national policy change.

In February 2020, our partners, Edinburgh Community Food, launched their Fizz Free February campaign as part of the wider Sugar Smart initiative. Fizz Free February encourages individuals to take the pledge to give up fizzy drinks for the month of February. The campaign was first launched by Southwalk Council in 2018 and is a great way to reduce your sugar intake.
