The Milton Road Community Garden is one of the two Edinburgh College’s community gardens (the other is at Sighthill Campus). It was set up in 2012 as a student-led project and is now an important college and community resource. The gardens are used in curriculum delivery for a wide range of student groups and are a space to learn about healthy living and sustainability, gain new skills, build self confidence and self-esteem, and make new friends.
As well as supporting students, the gardens also work with their local communities, welcoming individuals, and groups to benefit from the outdoor environment. These include local people, former students, agencies supporting young people with additional support needs or ethnic minorities, schools and other college partners. The gardens are also affiliated to a range of networks supporting growing projects across Scotland.
