Growing the good food movement

6th September 2021 by Vivienne Swan

What is the good food movement? Who is building it across the food and farming sector? How can we help grow the movement to ensure it’s a vibrant, diverse force for change that is led by the people and communities who stand to benefit the most?

What is the good food movement? Who is building it across the food and farming sector? How can we help grow the movement to ensure it’s a vibrant, diverse force for change that is led by the people and communities who stand to benefit the most?

The Good Food Movement seeks to build public awareness, inspire and engage people to be an active part of their local food system. It’s about ensuring that everyone can contribute to discussions and food campaigns that could influence policy changes.

In practice this is what we are all trying to do across Sustainable Food Places across the UK, encouraging inclusive opportunities for our citizens to learn about, share and enjoy, healthy, sustainable food. Growing, cooking and sharing food brings people together, supporting health and wellbeing.

What do you think is “good food”? This could be about quality, distance from the source, way in which the food is produced or the wages paid to workers involved in food production and delivery.

Growing the good food movement webinar is on Thursday 9 September 2-3.30, organised by Sustain. Join in the webinar to hear from organisations that are growing and supporting their own food movements.
